My work explores the ethereal and material tensions between figure and ground, presence and absence, and visibility and concealment. I am interested in how human, botanical, and imagined bodies can occupy, interrupt, replace, or dissolve into their surroundings. Through painting, layering, and fragmentation, I create spaces where figures appear simultaneously present and displaced, reflecting states of introspection, conflict, and transformation.

The figure is often fragmented, cropped, or partially concealed. Layered imagery and atmospheric environments disrupt conventional relationships between figure and ground, allowing absence to become another form of presence. I am interested in how identity shifts through displacement, otherness, and the continual negotiation between what is revealed and what remains hidden.

The work considers the figure/ground relationship as both a formal and psychological space, one in which boundaries between body and environment, presence and absence, and human and nonhuman life can cohabit. I explore embodiment as fluid, relational, and continually becoming.
